Have Yourself a Thrifty Little Christmas

As you all know I'm a big thrift store lover, so when Goodwill San Antonio contacted me about partnering up as one of their bloggers I jumped at the opportunity! And since it's December, I couldn't help but post about all the awesome holiday items you can find on their shelves. Take a look at some of my ideas for thrifty Christmas shopping.

Holiday Tins

There are always stacks of tins at Goodwill, and Christmas-themed ones are perfect for gift-giving (or admiring on the shelf). Bake some cookies, stash a gift card, or use it on your mantle for instant decor. I found this set of nesting tens for $4!

Home Decor
I happened to do my thrifting on St. Nicholas Day, so I was thrilled when I found this porcelain figure of Old St. Nick. And after bringing it home, I realized it had a music box on the bottom that plays Joy to the World--love it! Only $6.  And I couldn't resist those trumpet candlestick holders--neither can the kids! I think they were $2 each.

Christmas Records
I love flipping through old records, and Christmas records are even better! These were just 99¢ each and our house is filled with holiday classics for me and the kids to sing along and dance to.

Gift Wrap

Goodwill is also a great source for wrapping and crepe paper. I found two rolls of unused Christmas wrapping paper from Target and a bag full of crepe paper. And you can totally use crepe streamers for wrapping, too, check out this fun surprise ball idea I shared over on Sulia. So far I've made some for my kids--and my grandpa--and they all loved them!

This is just a sampling of the things you can find at your local Goodwill during your holiday shopping this year. You're bound to find those much-need holiday outfits, Christmas dishes or serving trays, nativity scenes, a star for your tree (that's where I found ours), and I even saw a menorah!

One of the best things about shopping at Goodwill for the holidays is that you're also helping to support Goodwill's mission of creating jobs and providing career training for people who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Last year, over 80% of Goodwill's revenue went directly back into their community programs. So not only are you keeping it green by buying secondhand, you're also providing a helping hand to the wonderful people Goodwill serves. How's that for some holiday cheer?

So, before you get all your shopping checked off, stop by and stroll down the aisles for some great deals--you just might find everything you're looking for!
