Barefoot Books Review and Giveaway

Barefoot Books Giveaway

My good friend, fellow blogger, and Barefoot Books ambassador, Veronica Rouse and I have teamed up to offer one lucky Maker Mama reader their pick from some of my own Barefoot favorites this week. Excited much? I know I am!

Veronica and I are both huge book-lovers (in fact, we first me in person looking at books at an estate sale!), and Barefoot Books is a unique publishing company that focuses on encouraging children's imagination, sense of wonder, creativity, and connection to the world around them. They also use sustainable paper sources and vegetable-based inks.

As a Barefoot Books ambassador, Veronica hosts community and fundraising events, as well as parties, and of course, offerings in her online bookstore. Interested in buying Barefoot? She's your go-to gal!

So how about a closer look at the ones I picked out?

Listen, Listen by Phillis Gershator and Alison Jay is a beautiful board book about the sounds of each season. When my two-year-old and I first sat down to read it, we lingered on all the pictures--this is one of those books where the illustrations are full of details and charm that will definitely make it a favorite.

Written by Britain's first female Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, and papercuts by Rob Ryan, The Gift is an interwoven story about a little girl with a magical love of nature. Although it's geared more towards girls, my boys were just as fascinated listening to this book. I could sit and look at the papercuts all day.

The Barefoot Book of Knights is another new favorite, but not simply because of the subject. This book is a set of stories within a story. The book follows young Tom, a page in training, who is learning about what it means to be a knight. As you read through the stories, Tom learns about the importance of bravery, cooperation, humor and recognition of weaknesses--being a knight isn't all about the sword and shield. This is a wonderful message I'm happy to read over and over with my boys. And as a bonus, the book comes with a CD of all the stories, which is perfect for quiet time or when I'm making dinner.

Do you love these books as much as I do yet? How about winning one of your own? Thanks to Veronica, one lucky winner will get to pick their favorite to add to their family book collection.

The Barefoot Books giveaway runs from now until 11:59pm EST this Friday, Feb. 15th. Check out the box below for all the ways you can enter:

Good luck and thanks for entering!

Disclosure: I received the books in this post for free. I'm receiving no monetary compensation for this review or giveaway. I just love the books and wanted to share them with you!
