We celebrated Liam’s birthday over the weekend with a little firefighter-style party at our house. I have to admit that I put way to much stress on myself in getting ready for the party. First off, I spent most of the week leading up to the party trying to finish his quilt, but by Friday night I realized it wasn’t going to happen. And we didn’t get to do much cleaning up until the day of the party when I was also making the cupcakes, putting up decorations, and all the other miscellaneous last-minute preparations.
When our family and friends got here I was able to relax and have a good time, though. And Liam, of course, was oblivious to everything I had been stressing out about during the day and had a blast. Between cupcakes finding falling everywhere outside and Liam’s record-breaking present opening session I managed to capture some photos to share:
Our fire dog pinata kept cool inside until his time was up.
We had plenty of fire hats to go around.
I painted flames on some old food boxes and taped them onto bigger boxes for the kids to play with outside.
The critter carnival was a perfect gift with Liam’s current obsession with bugs.
Liam loved his new Scooter from Gran and Papa.
My attempt at icing these cupcakes didn’t turn out too well–but it met the kids’ lick-the-icing-only approval anyway.
Liam of course couldn’t have a party without sharing his snails.
And last, but not least, the poor fire dog ended up losing his head.
We had fun and enjoyed having everyone over. I’ll definitely aim to get more done ahead of time for the next party though(Skyler will be 7 in August)–that or plan some other equally fun party alternative! I still have the binding left to do on Liam’s quilt and can’t wait to share the finished photos with you (I’m not going to let myself stress to much over it though)!
