There are so many things I adore about San Antonio There are so many things I adore about San Antonio—and TPR's Worth Repeating and Trinity University Press are two of them. ⁠ ⁠ After hearing about the speaker series for several years, I finally made it out to my first Worth Repeating back in December of 2017 out at The Brick. I recognized the familiar face of the lovely Burgin Streetman as I checked in, and she jumped at the opportunity to ask if I’d share a story on stage in place of a speaker who’d made an emergency trip to the hospital. ⁠ ⁠ I mulled it over during the first few speakers, while outlining what my own story on the theme of Obsessions would be. And by intermission I had it, pitched it to Paul, and was on stage shortly after. I was grateful my then shorter hair looked decent and I did an alternate nostril breathing exercise backstage to calm my nerves. ⁠ ⁠ Listening back to the live recording now makes me cringe with all the unpracticed ums and uhs, but the arc of the story I shared that night brings me back to a time when I was newly finding myself. And it makes me grateful for the unexpected twists and turns life brings—both in the story I shared, and that unanticipated night on stage. ⁠ ⁠ If you haven’t experienced @texaspublicradio's Worth Repeating live and in person yet, tonight is your chance!
