Kollabora Review and Giveaway

I’ve teamed up with the wonderful folks from the amazing new DIY website Kollabora to bring you this post today. If you haven’t already heard of Kollabora, your missing out! Kollabora is a beautifully crafted DIY site where you can not only find high quality projects and ideas, but you can also buy the supplies to make many of them. You can also join their online community to submit projects of your own, or even become a seller in their store.

Kollabora features jewelry-making, knitting, and sewing projects, as well as an online store with hand-picked products directly from brands and DIY designers alike. When they offered me the chance to try out one of their project kits, I was absolutely giddy. And one lucky winner will have the chance to win the same kit, too! Want to see what I picked?

I immediately fell in love when I saw this embroidered brooch kit by Urbahnika. The metal brooch itself is made of copper, and comes with a backing to attach when your finished embroidering. I almost wanted to leave it as is, the copper was so pretty by itself! The kit also came with a full set of instructions, embroidery thread, and a needle–everything you need to make your brooch!

I decided on a slightly different pattern and colors, grabbing some wool crewel thread from my stash, and using the bright blue thread that came with the kit. The brooch was easy to stitch up and the needle had a blunt tip so I wasn’t poking myself the entire time.

Once finished, the back of the brooch looked like a hot mess, but no worries, you just pop the back on, secure it with the side prongs and you have yourself a custom-made brooch! This was such a fun and simple project that I think it would make a perfect project for any crafter–beginner or advanced.
