We took our much-anticipated trip to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels the other week. Can you believe I was brave (or crazy) enough to take the kids solo? It was a bit of a challenge, but we had a great time–and a good night’s sleep that night too!
We started off in the West park and spent the morning and afternoon tubing, sliding, and splashing our way from one end to the other. We parked our picnic in the shade and came back to it numerous times to grab a bite (the kids were too excited to eat a full lunch). We took the free tram over to the East park later in the day and relaxed on the lazy river and kept it low-key at the kid’s water playground (although Skyler did venture off to the Boogie Bahn and the Dragon’s Revenge). If you haven’t been to Schlitterbahn New Braunfels, it’s just a short drive from San Antonio (although we got stuck in some sort of Twilight Zone when the map on my phone went wacky–it took us a little longer to get there!). New Braunfels itself is a sweet little town, and worth staying an extra day or two to explore. You might have noticed the hangry face in the photo above–the grumpies definitely paid a visit from time to time, but I kept my cool and it blew over each time. And I treated the kids to some In-N-Out Burger on the way home. Hard to find a more perfect summer day. More of a beach person? Check out our visit to Schlitterbahn South Padre.
