Today I am honored to be partnering with The Nature Conservancy in Africa for their #Elegram campaign to raise awareness and funds for the endangered African Elephant. My kids and I are huge fans of nature documentaries, and African Elephants are one of my faves to learn about (those elephant mamas mean business when it comes to protecting their babies!). Unfortunately the African Elephant population has decreased by half in the last 30 years.
That’s where The Nature Conservancy comes in with their amazing work. From training wildlife rangers to protect elephant habitats, to educating about the illegal sale of ivory, to providing small business opportunities to those who live among elephants, The Nature Conservancy is at the forefront of protecting this precious animal. And they need our help, too!
They are collecting 20,000 handmade elephants, or elegrams, to help raise $150,000 for their elephant protection work in Africa. You can paint, doodle, or craft any size elephant your heart desires–just be sure to use the hashtag #elegram to raise awareness on social media and upload a photo of your elegram on TNC’s Elegram Project Page.
To get your creative juices flowing, I’ve collected 12 cute and quirky elephant projects!
