Good morning! I think it can be a challenge for all creatives to find constant inspiration for your work. With the craziness in my life right now (you can read a bit about that here), it can be really hard for me to feel confident in myself, let alone my work. To help remedy those insecurities we all have, I thought I’d do something to help inspire and motivate us all, hence The Monday Maker Motivator. Let’s give this a try, and share some inspiration to get us making and moving this week! Here are a few tidbits that are currently filling me up.
First up is the phenomenal Elizabeth Gilbert’s new podcast, Magic Lessons. All of the episodes I’ve listened to so far are rich and full of encouragement for giving ourselves permission to love and chase after creativity. Pursuing our passions can feel like such a selfish (and cliché) thing to do, but that drive is there for a purpose. I particularly enjoyed the second episode with Cheryl Strayed, author of Wild, on the specific challenges of being a mother and a writer.
The podcast is out as a precursor to Liz’s new book, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear, which comes out later in September–I can’t wait to get my hands on it! You can read an excerpt of the book here.
I have to give a big thanks to my girls over at Crafting Connections for introducing me to the Magic Lessons podcast in their newsletter! Andrea and Danielle have such a nourishing, insightful perspective on creative living. If you’ve got some time to read while you finish your coffee, pop over to their site and soak up all the goodness they have to share. And check out their post on how to do a simple creative meditation if you need something tactile to get your wheels spinning today!
