Y’all. I’m WAY late on sharing this, but better late than never, right? My dear friend Jamie of Creating Really Awesome Free Things (aka C.R.A.F.T.) published a book a little bit ago (2015 *cough*), and I had the honor of contributing a project for publication! You may be familiar with Jamie from my podcast interview with her, but she is the queen of creating fun things out of nothing. For my contribution I created a DIY cork necklace which sweet Eleanor modeled for me. Scroll through to learn more about the book and four other cork craft ideas you can start making now.

Jamie’s book, Creating Really Awesome Free Things: 100 Seriously Fun, Super Easy Projects for Kids, features a host of fun and easy activities for kids. My favorites are probably the key wind chime and the twig stars. My girls still use this book as a go-to for crafting inspiration. I loved pouring through craft books when I was a kid, and this one is chock-full of ideas for your little ones.
The only two requirements for our projects were that it had to 1) use recycled materials and 2) be kid-friendly. You know how I love a good creative reuse challenge! I had a load of corks at the time and knew I wanted to do something with them. I liked the idea of using the corks to create a necklace, and for some reason it took me a little longer to wrap my mind around how to turn them into beads. You can order your own copy of the book to discover how I did it (it’s even available for free, one-day shipping with Amazon Prime!).
